Purification

Collagen was extracted from washed dissected tissue with pepsin and dilute acetic acid. Collagen type I and III was purified by using differential salt precipitation


Applications

Coating material for cell culture studies (tested on human HepG2, primary rabbit corneal keratinocytes, rabbit corneal endothelial and epithelial cells, mouse embryonal fibroblasts, mouse peritoneal macrophages). Suitable for 3-D gel formation


Reconstitution

Acetic acid 10-50mM can be used for dissolving collagen to a concentration of 1-5 mg/ml overnight using gentle mixing at +4°C
